December 02, 2019

With the winter holidays right around the corner, it’s time to start planning how you’ll celebrate the season with friends and family. And if you’re anything like us, most celebrations are all about the dessert!

Festive Holiday Mochi

For mochi lovers who love to add a little flair when entertaining, here are a few quick and easy ways to really impress your guests, whether you’re a first time hostess or a seasoned and savvy party planner.

Vanilla Chip mochi ice cream with chocolate and chopped hazelnuts

Holiday Mochi - Vanilla

A perfect blend of classic and winter flavors, this dish starts with our Vanilla Chip mochi.

Cut each mochi in half, then dip one side of each half in chocolate sauce.

Have a plate ready with chopped hazelnuts, and simply roll the chocolate-covered side of the mochi in the nuts.

How about trying chopped pretzels to add a bit of saltiness to the crunch? Or bring on the nostalgia and playfulness by replacing the nuts with rice krispies. Be creative and enjoy!

Chocolate mochi ice cream with crushed candy canes

Holiday Mochi - Chocolate

What could be better than chocolate mochi blended winter’s iconic treat: candy canes? It’s like your favorite peppermint bark, but with ice cream!

Our delicious dark chocolate mochi is the base for this perfect holiday dessert -- just press crushed candy canes on each side and you’ll be ready to go.

Not a fan of peppermint? You can substitute your favorite candy … like pop rocks for even more crunchy, crackly fun.

Salted Caramel mochi ice cream with sweet nonpareils

Festive Mochi - Caramel

This is a great pick for a splashy, decorative dessert.

Try a salted caramel mochi rolled in festive green nonpareils, or strawberry mochi with red and silver. Get artistic and mix your favorite colors!

Coconut with gold nonpareils is perfect for ringing in the new year. The color and taste combinations are endless. You can also add pistachios on top for even more nutty flavor, or you can try it with chopped peanuts or hazelnuts.

Want an extra lift? Drizzle dark or white chocolate over the candy toppings to add to the layers of flavors.

Of course, these are just a few ideas to whet your appetite.  Experiment with different flavors, colors and textures to see what pairs best. And be sure to keep following Mochidoki for even more fresh flavors and dessert ideas …bon appetit and happy holidays from Mochidoki!
